Melbourne International Arts Festival: Dance

danceMichael Clark’s “Come, Been and Gone” is a combination of classical ballet, modern dance, and rock music. Dancing to the tune of the legendary David Bowie and other musical influences, Michael Clark also collaborates with bands, fashion designers, and visual artists.

This production was a huge hit in last year’s Edinburgh Festival and it received some rave reviews. The Observer (UK) says, “An outrageously gorgeous piece of modern dance,” while The Independent on Sunday (UK) says, “There is no dancer-choreographer alive who so naturally treads the line between the rigour of classical dance and the reckless glamour of rock and fashion.”

It is set to make its Australian debut this October, so you should brace yourself for an exhilarating visual experience.

musicSeven Songs to Leave Behind is a line-up of seven remarkable talents, so if you are a fan of Sinead O’Connor, John Cale, Meshelle Ndegeocello, Rickie Lee Jones, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Archie Roach, and The Black Arm Band, you better make sure that you secure your tickets before they run out.

This three-hour long concert will showcase some of the best songs from these artists, including their first breakout song and their personal favorites.

Melbourne International Arts Festival: Theater

theaterFunicane and Smith’s “Carnival of Mysteries” features 30 unique artists that will bring into life the mysteries of innocence, passion, mercy, forgiveness and love.

You better be at least 18 years old because there are adult concepts, nudity, smoking, and loud effects.
